Synopsis

Diehard otaku and programmer Haru Bouida has sworn off romantic interest towards 3D girls in real life and wholeheartedly embraced the 2D girls of his beloved anime. One day, he purchases a 1/6th scale figure of his favorite anime heroine, Nona. When he gets home, much to his astonishment, Nona reveals herself to be alive! The two begin living together like a comedic husband and wife pair.

Background

Over Drive Girl 1/6 originated as a manga series published in Comic High! Magazine that ran between 2012 to 2015. It was created by mangaka Öyster. The story has been collected into four volumes. The original story was followed up in 2017 by a sequel series titled Over Drive Girls and was published via Nico Nico Seiga. An anime adaption of Over Drive Girl 1/6 is scheduled to premiere in spring 2019. It is directed by Keitaro Motonaga and animated by Studio A-Cat.

Characters

**Haruto Bouida ** (Voiced by: Wataru Hatano)

The main protagonist of the story. Visually, Haruto looks like a standard otaku, opting to wear glasses and casual clothes. He loves anime and gaming, and he prefers to enjoy these hobbies by himself. He has a plethora of goods from the anime that Nona is from.

Nona (Voiced by: Suzuna Kinoshita)

The main heroine of the story. Nona is the size of a 1/6th scale figure. Her outfit combines the look of a red bikini with advanced technological armor. In fact, her body parts hide several powerful weapons that can even cause small explosions. She loves Haruto, chocolate, and strawberries.

Subaru Amanohara (Voiced by: Mao Ichimichi)

Subaru, like Nona, is a moving figure. She comes from a fighting game called Striking Fist III. Subaru wears an orange and blue outfit suitable for martial arts. She is also an otaku.

Ozma (Voiced by: Toshiyuki Morikawa)

A blue alien figure bundled with the Nona figure. Ozma has one eye. It considers itself Nona’s best ally and at first does not trust Haruto. Ozma’s special skills include stealth and information gathering.

Seijiro Kanmuri (Voiced by: Kengo Kawanishi)

A fellow otaku considered by Haruto as his only friend. The two often bicker. He feels Haruto is stuck in a fantasy world loving 2D girls. Sejiro often seems to have a negative or serious demeanor.

Mikoto Bouida (Voiced by: Risae Matsuda)

Haruto’s younger sister who attends high school. She usually wears her school uniform. Mikoto accepts her brother’s otaku lifestyle. However, she has an unfortunate habit of accidentally damaging Haruto’s figure collection.

Rindo (Voiced by: Misa Fukamachi)

Another moving figure from the game Striking Fist III. Rindo considers herself to be Subaru’s arch-rival. She wears a pink and blue Chinese-style dress suitable for martial arts.

Ru Hitoma (Voiced by: Misa Fukamachi)

A tank girl figure from the game Weapon Girl Wars. Ru has a tank barrel attached to her chest. She is clever in battle strategizing.
